Centenary Celebration of the Foundation of PDDM Sisters

PDDM-INDIA: The historic event of the centenary of our foundation was celebrated in Bangalore, on February 10, 2024. The day was filled with gratitude and joy as Most Rev. Peter Machado, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bangalore, presided over the solemn Eucharist, joined by Most Rev. Bernard Moras, Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore and Apostolic Administrator of Mysore, Most Rev. Thomas Anthony Vazhapilly, Bishop Emeritus of Mysore, Fr. Joby Manachirikkal Provincial Superior of the Society of St. Paul, along with many other Pauline, religious and diocesan priests.

On this occasion, we recalled the 70 years of our presence in India which will be on February 17, 2024. We celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of the religious consecration of our dear Sr M. Valerian Parayamnilam & Sr M. Giorgina Kuncharacatt, and the Silver Jubilee of our Sr M. Estina Bhavighar, Sr M. Zita D’Souza, and Sr M.  Tessy Thekkanvazhakala.

In his homily, Archbishop Machado emphasized the significance of the Jubilee, noting that it comes once in a lifetime and is a gift from God. He praised the PDDM sisters for our dedicated service to society, especially highlighting our care for the priests in the Archdiocese of Bangalore, Mysore, and worldwide. After the Eucharist, there was a short program on the “Women of the Gospel” choreographed and enacted by our sisters.

The presence of Sr. Matilda D’Souza, Provincial Superior of the Daughters of St. Paul, PDDM sisters from various communities, family members of our dear sisters, parishioners, benefactors, and other religious was witness of their deep love and appreciation for our mission and ministry.

It was a day of praise and thanks to God for our amazing journey of discipleship, and re-dedicating ourselves to carry forward the dream of our founder to the new century of grace and blessing, in radical openness, and loving generosity.
