“What marvels that Lord worked for us, indeed we were glad!”
– Psalm 125:3
April 27, 2024, was a highly significant day in the annals of the community of Guru Yesu Illam (Santhome). On this 21st anniversary of the beatification of our beloved Founder Bl. James Alberione, we celebrated two important historical milestones: the Centenary of our Congregation’s founding and half a century of our presence in the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore. The day was blessed with manifold graces from above for us and everyone who shared our joy and history.
The Eucharistic celebration began with offering to God the 50 lighted lamps as a symbol of thanksgiving for the blessing of 100 years of our history and 50 years of our service in Santhome, Chennai. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by His Grace Archbishop Rev. Dr. George Anthonysamy of Madras-Mylapore accompanied by Emeritus Archbishop Rev. Dr. Chinnappa together with the Pauline Priests, and other diocesan priests. The archbishop in his homily powerfully brought out our Pauline vocation and the call to bear witness to Christ through the digital media. He was all praises for our loving service and care to the senior and sick priests of the archdiocese.
The presence of the Provincial Superior Sr M Celine D’Cunha and her team, Sr Fides Enos the pioneer of Chennai mission, the religious from different congregations, family members of our sisters, friends, and well-wishers added colour to the celebration.
We raised our hearts to God in constant praise and glory for his countless blessings and accompaniment during these 100 and 50 years of our discipleship. We re-dedicated ourselves with greater commitment and zeal towards our Eucharistic, Priestly, and Liturgical ministries.
