The Western Region Bishops council (WRBC)& The western Region Catholic council (WRCC) had its meeting on 15th& 16th December in Jeevan Vikasseva Ashram, Koshimbi, Bhivandi ( Maharashtra).
The Theme for the meeting was Call to Holiness based on the encyclical of Pope Francis , “Rejoice and be glad”.
The Participants for meeting were Bishops of Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra Diocese along with representatives from each Diocese ( a priest, a nun, two laypersons and a youth). All together there were 120 participants from 16 diocese. Sr. Amita, Pddm was the delegate from The Archdiocese of Bombay.
Fr.( Dr). Robert Dsouza of Vasai Diocese gave key note on the encyclical of Pope Francis “ Rejoce and be glad”. He said, according to Pope Francis all are called to holiness. Beatitudes are the identity cardof every Christian. Holiness is nothing but following the paths of love.
Sr. Lilly Francis from (SMMI) spoke on gender sensitivity and respect for women. She said, the womb of a woman is the home of the human race. If a woman becomes saint, she will lead many to sainthood.
On 16th December Bp. Allwyn D’silva & Fr. Joseph Gonsalves spoke on the care of creation and environmental issues. The session concluded with the concrete Plan of action for each Diocese. We pray for God’s choicest blessings on our Church in India.
