Divya Kala Kendra is a Centre for Sacred Arts, launched on 5th January 2014 by the PDDM sisters, as part of their Liturgical Apostolate at Prarthanalaya, Bandra, Mumbai.
The Purpose of this new initiative is to train people who can authentically incorporate Music and dance – the traditional forms of Indian art into the liturgy thus making it more relevant and meaningful in the realm of Divine Worship.
The First Convocation Ceremony on 26th February 2017, was a significant day for the DKK (Divya Kala Kendra) students, and indeed an historical event for the PDDM sisters in Mumbai. The entire atmosphere was filled with joy, gratitude and excitement. The impressive performance of all the music students, both hindustani and western was applauded by all. Various traditional songs and pieces from Trinity syllabus were played. The dance students gave a mesmerising performance called “Hasta Nirtya” with innovative and creative gestures of hands. The distribution of the certificates, and the releasing of the “DKK Booklet” was the crowning moment of the programme.
We wish the faculty and the students of Divya Kala Kendra God’s choicest blessings, and may the ministry of PDDM sisters grow wide and large to proclaim God’s glory through the Sacred Arts.
