The exciting event in the history of the Nellore community is the celebration of the centenary of the foundation of our Congregation. The celebration began with spiritual and external preparations with much joy and excitement. It was truly a memorable and joyous occasion for every community member.
During the Sunday evening mass, the centenary Eucharistic Celebration was solemnized inserting ourselves with the local church in the language of the place. The main celebrant Rev. M.D Prakasam, Bishop of Nellore, the priests of Nellore Deanery, Pauline Priests, the Provincial Superior Sr. M Celine D’Cunha, and the community sisters were welcomed and led in procession to the altar with a dance.
The introduction to the Mass expressed the marvelous works the Lord has done for us in these 100 years and his bountiful blessings and continued guidance in our mission in the church and the diocese of Nellore.
The bishop in his introduction, thanked the Lord for the PDDM presence in the Diocese of Nellore for the past 46 years and appreciated our active presence through our various apostolic activities. In his homily, Fr G. Innaiaha, the Vicar General of Nellore Diocese highlighted the vision of our founder and the PDDM mission in the church. He elucidated the significance and relevance of our presence in the church today.
After the Mass, as a token of love and appreciation, the bishop invited all the PDDM sisters to the dais and felicitated each one individually with a shawl. Then a video projection of the Charism and Mission of Sister Disciples was presented to the parishioners, followed by felicitation of the Bishop, Provincial Superior, and dignitaries and gifting of centenary mementos.
To crown the celebration a Jubilee cake was cut and shared. The celebration concluded with a sumptuous dinner and distribution of snacks. It was an unforgettable memory for the community and the people of our parish.
