The Centenary of the PDDM Congregation at Jamshedpur community was celebrated on 3rd April 2024, combined with the Silver Jubilee of Sr. Tessy Thekkeanvazhakala. The Celebration began with a solemn Concelebrated thanksgiving holy Eucharist by Most Rev. Bishop Telesphore Bilung, Bishop of Jamshedpur along with Archbishop Emeritus of Ranchi Felix Toppo, Fr. Jerry Cutina the Provincial Superior of Jesuits, Fr. Francis Dalmeth the Superior of Society of St Paul and many other priests of the diocese. The Celebrants and the PDDM sisters with the Centenary and Silver Jubilee candles were accompanied in procession by the tribal dancers, at the entrance to the chapel they were welcomed in a tribal tradition. The Eucharist began with an outburst of joyous singing. During the homily, after breaking the Word of God Bishop Telesphore Bilung appreciated the sisters for their selfless and dedicated service to the underprivileged boys and girls of the Diocese. He also stressed that like women of the Gospel, the PDDM sisters are truly called to do the greater work of evangelization through the three-fold ministry of Eucharist, Priesthood, and Liturgy.
After the Holy Eucharist, there was a short cultural and felicitation at St. Joseph’s community college hall, organized by the sisters and St. Joseph’s Community College students. Rev. Sr Tessy the Jubilarian was honoured and felicitated by Bishop Telesphore Bilung. Bishop Felix Toppo the emeritus Archbishop of Ranchi, was the one who had invited the PDDM sisters to Jamshedpur. He recounted that the Eucharistic Adoration was the purpose for which he had called the sisters to the diocese, his experience with the sisters and their ministry has been uplifting and fruit-bearing. The celebration was concluded with a festive meal.
